Volunteering Policy
Volunteering at St. Louise School is a wonderful way to connect with our community, support your child’s education, and model the importance of service. By contributing your time and talents, you help create a thriving environment where all students can succeed. Plus, your involvement shows your children the value of giving back and working together.
Why Volunteer?
Your participation strengthens the St. Louise community, enriches the school experience, and offers meaningful ways to engage with your child’s education. Whether you’re helping in the classroom, assisting with events, or offering your professional expertise, your efforts make a difference and are deeply appreciated.
Getting Started:
- Complete Safe Environment Training:
- To ensure the safety of all students, all volunteers must complete the Seattle Archdiocese’s Safe Environment program, which includes a background check and training on recognizing and reporting abuse. This is required before volunteering at any school activity.
- Training is offered online or in person. Learn more on the Safe Environment Training page.
- Explore Volunteer Opportunities:
- Volunteer opportunities are listed on TrackItForward, a platform where families can sign up for activities and track their hours.
- Opportunities range from classroom assistance to event support, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
- Log Your Hours:
- Each family is required to contribute at least 40 hours of volunteer time per school year (July 1–June 30). Hours should be logged through TrackItForward by the end of each trimester.
- The Parents’ Club volunteer coordinator will review your totals and notify you of your progress.
- If you are unable to meet the 40-hour requirement, you may fulfill your obligation by paying $26 per hour for any uncompleted hours.
Volunteer Opportunities Include:
- Classroom Assistance: Support teachers by helping with reading groups, special projects, or other in-class activities.
- Events and Fundraisers: Assist with planning, setup, and operations for events like the Auction, Walk-A-Thon, and other fundraisers.
- Recess Duty: Help supervise students during recess to ensure a safe and fun environment.
- Library Support: Organize books, assist students in finding resources, or help with special library events.
- School Committees: Share your expertise on committees such as Emergency Preparedness, the Parents’ Club, or the Marketing Committee.
- Carpool Support: Help manage the carpool line to ensure smooth drop-off and pick-up procedures.
- Campus Beautification: Assist with gardening, landscaping, or general maintenance to keep the school grounds welcoming.
