Emergencies
St. Louise Parish School may close or delay opening due to extreme weather or unforeseen emergencies. The principal will determine closures or delays and will communicate these decisions promptly through text and email notifications using the contact information on file for each parent.
Emergency Messaging System:
- Opt-In: To receive emergency texts for school closures, delays, and lockdowns, text "YES" to 79041. This service keeps you informed during critical situations.
Procedure:
- During potential weather-related closures or delays, please avoid calling or emailing the school. Instead, check your texts, voicemails, and emails for updates. Parents should make decisions based on their local weather conditions, even if the school remains open.
- If severe weather or other emergencies like power outages or earthquakes occur during school hours, announcements for early dismissal will be sent through the emergency messaging system.
Emergency Pick-Up Contacts:
- It’s crucial to have up-to-date emergency pick-up contacts on file at the school office. These designated individuals are authorized to pick up your child in case of an emergency, ensuring a safe and organized dismissal.
Emergency Preparedness & Safety Reminders:
- Stay Informed: Keep your contact information current to receive all emergency notifications.
- Be Prepared: Discuss the emergency procedures with your child so they know what to expect.
- Plan Ahead: Prepare for natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires, or severe storms. Discuss emergency plans with your family in advance, as phone lines may be down or busy during an emergency. Visit the Washington Emergency Management Division for more information on disaster preparedness.
Join the Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC):
- The EPC is a parent-led group dedicated to advising and enhancing St. Louise School’s disaster preparedness plans. The committee provides resources and learning opportunities for families to better prepare for emergencies. If you are interested in joining or have questions, please contact us at [email protected] or leave a message in the EPC mailbox in the school office.
